Education

Stormwater education is a vital part of  operations. One of our main goals is to encourage people to be aware of water quality issues by providing educational material and opportunities for our community members.  

Some business within the District Boundaries have agreed to distribute brochures that explain water quality hazards and how each of us can help by beign aware of what might pollute our ground water. Thank you once again to The Allison Lane Animal Hospital, Allison Lane Auto Care, Lighthouse Apartments, and Cook Memorial Church.

Oak Park Conservancy District partnered with IDEM during the Spring 2011 to educate the students on the importance of clean water and what each of us can do to help.  The incredible journey of the water cycle took the students through the travel of a water drop through the cycle. Students participated and were given items to remind them of the importance of each person doing their part to ensure the quality of water. 4th and 5th grade students had the opportunity to participate in Environmental Jeopardy where they teamed up to test their knowledge on various topics. A special Thank You to the school for allowing Oak Park to reach these brilliant young minds in efforts to improve our environment.

The Stormwater Department sends out a quarterly newsletter with up to date information on what is going on with the District.  Featured articles will have information on not only stormwater issues but also wastewater issues. We also include community announcements.
